Photovoltaic solar cells are thin silicon disks that convert sunlight into electricity. The basic component or raw material that go into the making of a solar cell is pure silicon, which is not pure in its natural state. Purifying the silicon results in Ingots and silicon wafers are cut from the Ingots. These silicon wafers are then doped, sealed back to back and electrical contact are placed. The finished solar cells are encapsulated with EVA and placed in a aluminum frame that has a solar glass or plastic cover.
